House Votes for New Iraq Blank Check
Here's the Associated Press:
"The House Tuesday passed a bill to keep the government running until mid-November, with both Democrats and Republicans determined to avoid a shutdown. The bill, which passed 404-14, also provides funding to continue Pentagon operations in Iraq and Afghanistan."
Dick Cheney was right: The war "may not be popular with the public -- it doesn't matter" because in Washington, the will of the people is a punchline rather than a mandate.

Well of course the public doesn't matter, they ain't the people keeping our politicos swimming in booze, whores and money.
Its pay to play and there are no parties anymore, just people you pay to get things done.
Maybe the Democrats never read the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird". Remember Attorney Atticus Finch?
This site will correctly sum up the guys courage forte:
"He believed that success was not just winning, but instead just trying to fight for a good cause. Even if you failed, Atticus believes you were successful. Courage was something Atticus definitely had. He was the only white man in town that would stand up for Tom Robinson because he knew it was wrong to accuse him. Atticus once said that you should still fight even when you know your beaten. He didn’t just go with the popular opinion that black’s were bad, instead, he gathered up his courage and fought against the court. He knew that he was testifying against an all white jury and that he had no chance to convince them that Tom was guilty, but he knew that it was right to at least try. He believed that every little thing you do that is right will eventually add up and help the cause.
Instead of struggling to reach "compromises", the Democrats would do better to take a pounding lesson on courage and learn to put courage for the people above courage for the special interests !
And CHIP and SCHIP couldn't be attached to this must-pass legislation because?
We've had Red Dogs and Blue Dogs and Yellow Dogs but the Democrats we have now are Dead Dogs. Throw 'em all out, senior to junior, they are no use to any of us. Write to them like I did to my Senator and tell them you won't contribute a nickel to them or any of their causes. The only language they understand.

Damn right ! The real progressives have virtually no chance of getting their say in either the Democratic or Republican parties. This country is long due for an Independent for president and more Independents on Capital Hill, state legislature offices, local offices, etc ... Kill the duopoly and give us more INDEPENDENTS . In fact, this country would do a hell of a lot better voting an Independent into the White House on Nov 2008 and forming a NEW INDEPENDENCE DAY !
Even worse. Apparently all 3 of the top candidates have now stated that they don't see us getting out of Iraq until after their first term.
I'm getting angry. We need to change the democratic party. Independents won't be able to change anything quickly enough. Fact is, if you did send an independent to the White House, both republicans and democrats would turn on him and eat him alive. The real answer is to vote those who keep funding the war out of office via the grassroots.

Based on spankrankin's earlier post, one should obviously expect an Independent in the White House to face hostile reception from the two corrupt parties completely dominating the Congress. But if the Independent is as brave as Atticus Finch, the people will better be able to hold their Congress people accountable. Of course, I did also mention that Capitol Hill is going to need more Independents replacing as many members in Congress as much as possible to make the Independent in the White House relevant.
You must educate yourselves to the issuance of money and who and how it is being created..!
