Unveiling the Widget
For several months now, I've been eating, breathing, and sleeping online voter registration. All that hard work is what makes days like today particularly satisfying, when I finally get to show off what we've done.Without further ado, I'll proudly unveil the Working Assets Wireless online voter registration widget. You can view it in action at Live Earth (click on the 'register to vote' banner down the page on the left hand side), the Alliance for Climate Protection (the banner is down the page), or Rock the Vote (just click 'register to vote').
If you need to register to vote -- or re-register your change of name, address, or party -- go ahead and use the widget to complete your application today, all in less than a minute. (If you're already sure you're registered at your current address, you can take it for a spin anyway. Just don't print out and mail your application at the end.)
As you'll notice, the voter registration form shows up directly in the page, so you never have to leave the site you're visiting in order to complete your voter registration application. What do you know? Working Assets has found yet another way to make it easy to make a difference.
But the project doesn't stop here. By the end of the summer, we'll be rolling out a full dashboard that will let anyone host their own voter registration widget on just about any website or blog. We hope you'll join us and our voter registration partners as we launch what is sure to be the largest voter registration campaign ever heading into the 2008 elections.
Keep watching this space for more details.
